Whalewatch Explorer 27th March 2013

Whalewatch Explorer passengers - 27th of March 2013. What a superb start to the season we’re having! Stunning day with blue skies and sunshine. This was our lunch spot where we were spoilt with views of a juvenile white-tailed eagle flying around us. We also had 2 very sneaky porpoise, guillemots, razorbills, Manx shearwaters, gannets and another adult white-tailed eagle on our way home! Can’t wait for more!!… :-)

Ecocruz 20th March 2013

Ecocruz 20th March 2013 - Another early season trip and another fantastic day of wildlife! We were just heading out of the harbour when a very sneaky porpoise popped up for a breath (always when I'm talking about razorbills!) but was gone as quickly as it came. A lone black guillemot and a great northern diver were next as we sailed past the salmon farm. Plankton sample at Ardmore was quite impres...sive (a sign of things to come?!) but no eagles on the nest ... Well that's because they were enjoying the sights of Tobermory today! A keen eyed passenger spotted not one but the pair of white tailed sea eagles being mobbed by some gulls! Swiftly followed by a passing peregrine and another sneaky porpy! Great views of a common seal at Calve island and we were back all smiling (and slightly shivering) ready for the next adventure!
What a day! Sharky :-D

Wildlife Adventure 14th March 2013

Wildlife Adventure 14th March 2013 - Our 1st Wildlife Adventure of the season!!! And it really did live up to the name! We'd hardly left the bay before a group of around 6 porpoise came to say hello!!! We had great views of a huge group of 20+ (very inquisitive) common seal as we headed down Loch Sunart and a sneaky cormorant hiding amongst a group of shags. A couple of small groups of guillemots and razorbills were having a rest on the water and lovely views of a red throated diver that joined us for lunch. More porpoise popping up throughout the trip, including 3 that decided to do a bit of wake riding and Doris the grey seal at Calve Island was the finale to a great day out! Can't wait to get back out to see what's next!!! :-D
